Self-Study Formats and Associated Procedures
The latest edition of the NASM Handbook, including any current addenda, must be used and referenced for all Self-Study Formats prepared for all applications for Membership or Renewal of Membership. The Handbook contains the Standards and Guidelines by which each institution will be reviewed.
If you are preparing a NASM Self-Study for the first time, before proceeding, please read the documents in Basic Resources and Forms.
SELF-STUDY FORMATS
THREE FORMAT OPTIONS FOR SELF-STUDY DOCUMENTS are available to most institutions preparing applications for Membership or Renewal of Membership.
Please see "Comparisons Among Self-Study Formats" to read descriptions of eligibility, structure, and points to consider when choosing a format.
Each institution chooses only one option for its Self-Study. If none of the three options meets the needs of the institution, please contact the Executive Director or Associate Director.

OPTIONAL TEMPLATES FOR SELF-STUDY FORMATS
The complete texts of each of the three NASM Self-Study formats are provided below as Microsoft Word documents to facilitate using and altering the texts to create templates for Self-Study writers. This is an optional step for institutions. If using one of these templates, all instructions must be deleted in the institution's final Self-Study document that is submitted as part of the application for Membership or renewal of Membership.Procedures for the Self-Study Document:
