NASM STANDARDS REVIEW

Last Updated: August 13, 2010

NASM conducts reviews of its standards for institutional membership in two formats: comprehensive reviews and specific reviews.

Comprehensive reviews consider the standards as a whole or a particular set of standards (e.g. graduate, undergraduate, non-degree-granting, operational). Specific reviews consider particular portions or elements of the standards, or new standards.

Status reports regarding comprehensive and specific standards review efforts are provided below, along with links to any texts available for comment.

PLEASE NOTE

Until any proposed changes have been approved by an affirmative vote of institutional
representatives to NASM, the official standards in effect are those published in the
      latest edition of the
NASM Handbook and any current Handbook Addenda.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, this portion of the NASM Web site contains only
texts associated with standards reviews or proposals for changes. These texts are
not to be used in the NASM accreditation process.

All draft proposals will be posted here as they are approved for public comment. Indications will be provided for each proposal regarding the type of review, the dates of comment periods, and whether the proposal is scheduled for hearings or for a final vote by the NASM membership.

Representatives of member institutions and other interested parties, including students, are cordially invited to read and comment on standards drafts. Those wishing to comment are urged to read the introductory material to each draft standards text. If you have a comment, please share it during the present comment period. Do not wait for a later draft. Comment forwarding instructions are provided on each draft text.

Although NASM will not be able to acknowledge every comment individually, the Association is grateful to those making specific suggestions. You need not comment if you think a text is satisfactory.
