David Reynolds serves as Director of the School of Performing Arts and Professor of Music at South Dakota State University. Prior to 2005, he served on faculties in Montana and Colorado and was a member of The United States Army Band (Pershing’s Own) in Washington, D.C.
Professor Reynolds currently teaches applied trumpet and horn, and coaches chamber groups. He is an active performer and recitalist, and has presented original research on the history of wind bands at several state, regional, and national conferences. He has contributed articles and reviews to the Journal of Band Research, International Trumpet Guild Journal, Magazine of Western History, South Dakota Musician, and the Montana Cadenza.
Professor Reynolds serves NASM as a Visiting Evaluator. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Kansas, a Master of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance from Florida State University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature from the University of Maryland at College Park.
