Kate M. Ransom

Kate Ransom has served as director of collegiate and non-degree-granting music schools for over 20 years. She has been President of The Music School of Delaware since 1999.

She is violinist with Serafin String Quartet, presently recording for Naxos works of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon. Her recent and upcoming performances include the Bach Double with William Preucil; complete Brahms violin sonatas in PA, TX and DE; Saint John’s Smith Square – London; and the complete Beethoven sonatas in PA, DE, FL and VT. She has recorded for Gallo, CRI, Centaur and Klavier.

She earned a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Yale University; a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan; and pursued postgraduate chamber music studies at The Juilliard School. She was a violin student of Paul Makanowitzky, Szymon Goldberg and Ivan Galamian, and was a chamber music protégé of the Tokyo String Quartet.

Ms. Ransom serves as a visiting evaluator for NASM and ACCPAS, and as a member of the Board of Directors since 2011.
