Caterina Bristol

Caterina Bristol is Professor of Music and Interim Dean for the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Alabama State University. She has presented on the topics of diversity in graduate music programs, 21st-century musicianship, and the use of technology for under-resourced institutions at several national and international conferences. She coordinates an HBCU Composers’ Concert, featuring the music of composers from historically black colleges and universities. Professor Bristol serves as the Southern Division Chair for the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors and is a Fellow of the Sphinx Organization’s SphinxConnect program.

Professor Bristol has served NASM as a member of the Board of Directors as Chair of Region 8, and as a past member of the Nominating Committee.

She earned degrees in Music Performance and Pedagogy from The Ohio State University and the University of Northern Colorado. Professor Bristol also holds a Master of Library Science degree from Texas Woman’s University.
