David E. Scott

David E. Scott is Professor of Music and Associate Dean of the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts at Texas A&M University – Commerce. In addition to his administrative role overseeing eight academic departments, his on-campus duties include teaching graduate courses in Music Education. Prior to his appointment at the College, he served six years as Head of the Department of Music. Before joining the faculty at Texas A&M – Commerce, Associate Dean Scott spent 14 years as Director of Bands and Head of the Department of Art and Music at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. He also served six years as Director of Bands, Chair of the Woodwind, Brass and Percussion Division, and Associate Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin – Superior.

He has articles published in a variety of journals, including the Journal of Research in Music Education, Music Educators Journal, and Bandworld Magazine. He has performed with orchestras, wind ensembles, and brass bands across the country, and has given numerous chamber and solo performances on both euphonium and trombone.

Associate Dean Scott has served NASM as a member of the Board of Directors as Chair of Region 9.

Associate Dean Scott holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Music Education and a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from Ohio State University, and Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Music Performance from Baylor University.
