Dori Waggoner

Dori Waggoner is Professor of Music at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, where she serves as Dean of the Swinney Conservatory of Music. She has been honored with many awards for teaching and leadership from student groups, her faculty colleagues, and the Board of Trustees. In addition to teaching and administrative duties, she serves on key campus committees, currently chairing the Academic Affairs Committee overseeing curriculum, and serving on the Leadership Team working with the Provost.

Prior to seeking advanced degrees, Dean Waggoner spent several years teaching and conducting bands in the public schools of Missouri. Her students experienced success performing solos, chamber works, and band literature at many levels, and she remains active as a clinician, presenter, and conductor. These experiences led her to research error detection skills and pre-service music teacher training in her doctoral work.

Dean Waggoner was first elected to the Commission in 2020. She has served NASM as Secretary of Region 3.

Dean Waggoner earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Music Education and a Master of Music degree in Theory at the University of Missouri – Columbia, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Methodist University.
