Nancy Cochran

Nancy Cochran is Director of the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. She previously served as Director of the Division of Music at Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, Director of the School of Music at Texas Tech University, and for 28 years as Professor of Horn in the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. While in Texas, she served as chair of the Ethics Committee and member of the Executive Committee at the Texas Association of Music Schools, Chair of the College Music Society’s Mentoring Committee and member of its Committee on Outreach to Higher Education.

Professor Cochran has appeared as a soloist, chamber music artist, clinician, and orchestral player in the United States and abroad. Her international activities include serving two terms as President of the International Horn Society. A featured soloist and speaker at numerous International Horn Workshops, she has also adjudicated a variety of international horn and brass solo competitions. For seven summers, she served on the faculty of the National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan, and has performed with the Aspen Festival Orchestra, New Haven Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, Seoul (Korea) Philharmonic and numerous other ensembles.

Professor Cochran holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Yale University and Ball State University.

Her service to NASM includes as Vice Chair of Region 9, and as an Annual Meeting presenter.
