JEFFREY L. PAPPAS is the Founding Dean of the Natalie L. Haslam College of Music at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville (UT). He previously served as Director of the School of Music at UT-Knoxville, Chair of the Department of Music at Marshall University and Director of Choral Activities at Ball State University, Mississippi State University, and Clarke College. He also was a member of the faculty at Otterbein College. During Dean Pappas’s time at UT, he led the transition of the School of Music to a College of Music, including a significant naming gift for the new college.
Dean Pappas is also active in the National Association of Music Executives of State Universities, Music Executives of the Southeastern Conference, International Council for Arts Deans and previously held numerous positions within the American Choral Directors Association.
Dean Pappas serves NASM as a visiting evaluator. He has served as Treasurer of the Association and as a member of the Board of Directors as Chair of Region 8.
Dean Pappas holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Iowa, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Northern Kentucky University.
