Jeffrey L. Pappas

Jeffrey L. Pappas is Director of the School of Music at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. He previously served as Chair of the Department of Music at Marshall University and as Director of Choral Activities at Ball State University, Mississippi State University, and Clarke College. He also was a member of the faculty at Otterbein College.

Professor Pappas is active as a choral conductor, clinician, and adjudicator, and has been involved in commissioning and conducting new works for choral ensembles. He is also active in the National Association of Music Executives of State Universities (NAMESU), the Tennessee Association of Music Executives of Colleges and Universities (TAMECU), and has held numerous positions within the American Choral Directors Association.

Professor Pappas serves NASM as a visiting evaluator, and was a past member of the Board of Directors as Chair of Region 8. He was first elected as Treasurer in 2016.

He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting degree from the University of Iowa, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting degree from the University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance degree from Northern Kentucky University.
