Sue Haug

Sue Haug is a faculty member and the NASM institutional representative of the School of Music at Pennsylvania State University. She joined the Pennsylvania State University faculty as its director in 2005, stepping down from this position on July 1, 2017. Previously, she served on the faculty at Iowa State University for 30 years and as head of the Department of Music for 15 years. She received the 2010 Achieving Woman Award in Administration from the Penn State Commission for Women and the 2003 Iowa State University Foundation Award for Departmental Leadership.

Professor Haug served for 11 years on the NASM Commission on Accreditation, including as Associate Chair and Chair. She is Past President of Pi Kappa Lambda (PKL), national music honorary society, and continues as a member of the PKL Board of Regents. She also has served as President of the Iowa Music Teachers Association, where she received the organization’s Distinguished Service Award. Her articles have been published in the American Music Teacher, Clavier, and Keyboard Companion, and she has presented at national meetings of the Music Teachers National Association, the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy, College Music Society, and Sigma Alpha Iota. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance degree from the University of Iowa, and Master of Music in Collaborative Piano, Master of Music in Piano Performance, and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance degrees from the University of Wisconsin.
