Faun Tiedge

Faun Tanenbaum Tiedge is Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music at Linfield College, and director of the Linfield Lively Arts Series. She previously chaired the Department of Music History and Literature at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and was Assistant Professor of Music at Northwestern University. Her teaching includes courses in music history and culture, arts management, and popular music from the global music world.

Professor Tiedge has played cello and bass for cabaret and musical theatre in New York City, with recordings on Painted Smiles Records. She pursues research in historical and contemporary performance practice focusing on improvisation and collaboration across genres, and has presented papers for the American Musicological Society and the College Music Society. She received grants from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation for research in Venice, Italy and has published writings in the New Grove Dictionaries and A-R Editions.

Professor Tiedge earned a Ph.D. in Musicology at New York University; a Master of Arts in Music Theory at Binghamton University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance at Hunter College, CUNY.
