Susan D. Van Vorst has been the Dean of Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music since 2012. Prior to this appointment, she served as Director of Development for the Musical Arts Association (The Cleveland Orchestra), responsible for annual fund revenue of $2.9 million and comprehensive campaign commitments of $30 million annually. She developed fundraising, audience development, and advocacy strategies for the Blossom Music Center, the Orchestra’s summer home.
From 1997-2010, Dean Van Vorst was Foundation President and Vice President of fund development at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron, Ohio. She provided fiscal, programmatic, and strategic direction for a foundation supporting a historic museum and public garden. During her tenure, the museum completed two successful capital campaigns, introduced a legacy society, and achieved significant fundraising in support for ongoing operations and restoration efforts at this National Historic Landmark. She has been active in additional management and leadership capacities in the northeast Ohio arts community.
Dean Van Vorst received a Master of Arts degree in Arts Management from the University of Akron, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Kent State University.
