Linda Apple Monson

Linda Apple Monson is Distinguished Service Professor and Director of the School of Music at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Previously she served as Associate Director of Mason’s School of Music and as Director of Keyboard Studies.

An International Steinway Artist, Professor Monson has performed as piano soloist, collaborative pianist, and master class clinician throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. A recipient of the 2014 Influential Women of Virginia award, Professor Monson was named the 2012 Distinguished Faculty Member of the Year at George Mason University and received Mason’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2009. She is listed on the Fulbright Senior Specialist Roster, in collaboration with the United States Department of State and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars. Professor Monson has served as President of the College Music Society Mid-Atlantic Region. She has given lecture-recitals at numerous College Music Society international and national meetings.

Professor Monson serves NASM as a Visiting Evaluator. She has served previously as member of the Commission on Accreditation from 2016-2019, and as a member of the Nominating Committee.

Professor Monson earned Doctor of Musical Arts, Master of Music in Piano Performance, and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University, and a Diploma from Musica en Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
