William Mathis

WILLIAM MATHIS is Dean of the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University and previously served as Chair of Music Performance Studies. Other positions held include Professor of low brass at Northwestern State University of Louisiana.

Dean Mathis is a member of the Glass City Brass Quintet and former member of the Shreveport Symphony. Solo appearances include the Festival of Sandpoint and with the Ann Arbor Chamber Orchestra. He has performed with the Canadian Brass, the Festival at Sandpoint, Keystone and Rafael Mendez Brass Institutes, International Brassfest, International Trombone Festival, New York Brass Conference, Eastern Trombone Workshop, and state music education conventions in Arkansas, Louisiana, Ohio and Texas.

Dean Mathis serves NASM as a visiting evaluator.

Dean Mathis holds Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in trombone performance from the University of Michigan. His principal teachers include H. Dennis Smith, Larry Zalkind, Russel Widener, Johann Doms and Harvey Phillips.
