Camille Day Nies

Camille Day Nies is Chair of the Department of Music and Theatre at Amarillo College (AC), where she teaches viola, music literature, music appreciation, and Latin-American Orchestra, and has coordinated and taught in AC’s Suzuki Program since 2000.

Professor Nies has experience teaching 6–12 orchestra and choir in public education, and has directed community-wide summer youth musical productions. She is a member of the Amarillo Symphony Board of Directors, coaches in the Amarillo Symphony Youth Orchestra, and regularly presents community outreach performances and lectures.

Professor Nies has been a violist with the Amarillo Symphony since 1983, principal violist with the Amarillo Opera since 1992, and performs often with Chamber Music Amarillo, Amarillo College faculty, and various community ensembles.

Professor Nies earned a Master of Music degree in Performance and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business with emphases in Viola and Voice from West Texas A&M (West Texas State) University.
