Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw

Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw is the founding Dean of the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art at The Catholic University of America, a position she has held since 2018. She also holds the rank of Ordinary (Full) Professor of Music. Dean Leary-Warsaw oversaw the merging of the former School of Music with the departments of Drama and Art, which formed the new school for the visual and performing arts. Before coming to Catholic University, Dean Leary-Warsaw previously served as the Chair of the Department of Music and Artistic Director of the Conservatory of Fine and Performing Arts at Birmingham-Southern College, where she taught for 18 years. She also previously taught at the College of Southern Maryland, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University of Montevallo.

Dean Leary-Warsaw’s scholarly interests include American French art song, vocal pedagogy, women composers, and sacred music. Since 2013, she has been a regular contributor to Choice Current Reviews for Academic Libraries. As the producer, writer, and on-air host of the In Concert television series (EWTN Global Network), she has worked with Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI, Italy), EuroArts (Germany) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS, United States). A classical soprano, Dean Leary-Warsaw has been heard in operatic, concert and recital performances throughout the United States, Europe, and South America.

Dean Leary-Warsaw is a member of the advisory boards of the Washington International Piano Festival and the International Young Artist Piano Competition. She is a member of the Global Connections and Nominations committees of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans, and she has held leadership positions with the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Dean Leary-Warsaw holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Music degree from The Catholic University of America, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Louisville.
